IELTS Study Tips and Skills

Listening tips:
  1. Underline key words in the question to help you in your listening
  2. Answer every question, there's no point in leaving ant question blank
  3. Check your spelling as you will be pinalised if you get it wrong

Speaking tips:
  1.  Try to talks about what you know rather than general ideas.
  2.  Practise speaking at lenght. Talk to yourself on a variety topics. Record yourself and listen back to  see if your sound interested. Practice stressing key words to sound more interested.
  3. It's ok to ask the examiner to repead the question.
  4. Watch the tense in the question, is it past, present or future? make a note of it.
  5. If you can't remember in english, try to describe it.
Reading tips:
  1. Spelling is very important. When you learn new words make sure you know how to spell them. Go back and check the spelling of your answer.
  2. Look at the picture and the title to give you a general idea of the topic, and then look at the quesion.
  3. Don't waste to much time on one question. If it's too difficult for you go on the next question and come back if you have time.
 Writing tips:
  1. Write the correct amount of word, not to few and not to many.
  2. The best way to improve your vocabulary is to do lots reading.
  3. Timing is important. you've got 20 minute for the first part and 40 minute for the second part.
